Ask a Librarian?
The librarians at the Rochester Public Library welcome your questions via e-mail and will respond to you within 48 hours. Always include your phone number and at least your first name in case we need to contact you. For questions that require extensive time and research, we invite you to visit the library or call us at 262-534-3533 during regular library hours.
We cannot answer questions that require medical or legal interpretation.
Interlibrary Loan FAQ
What is an Interlibrary Loan?
When you’ve searched our catalog and you don’t find what you are looking for, let us try and get it for you from another library. Through our Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL), we can request materials from other libraries in the State of Wisconsin as well as from out-of-state libraries.
Who can use this service?
This service is available to all library patrons with valid library card.
Does it cost anything?
There is no fee for this service. The library will not request any item for which there is a fee from the lending library.
How long does it take to get items?
Please allow a minimum of ten (10) business days for items to arrive. We will contact you via telephone or e-mail when the item arrives.
What can I borrow?
Just about anything that is available at another library. Books, DVDs, music CDs, magazines, etc.
How many items can I borrow?
You may borrow as many items as you need.
What is the loan period?
The usual loan period for Interlibrary Loan items is 3 weeks.
